Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a complex system of diagnosis that views the person as a whole in order to uncover the root imbalances that manifest as disease. In acupuncture we discern how these imbalances and symptoms connect together to form what we call your "patterns of disharmony" and treat these accordingly.

Hair-fine needles are inserted into the skin and body tissues to stimulate a physiological response in order to restore the balance of the body's systems and therefore aiding it to function properly.

Acupuncture has an accumulative effect. Treatment is gradual and unfolding, with each treatment peeling back and treating the layers underneath to reveal the core issues. Chinese Medicine does not separate mind and body or seek to alleviate illness via a single mechanism like pharmaceutical drugs. Chinese medicine views illness in terms of the movement of qi, bodily substances and pathogenic factors. It looks at the correlations between these signs and symptoms to enable us to link the key issues of the problem and provide you with a diagnosis and treatment.

Acupuncture can successfully treat a wide variety of conditions. It can treat specific diseases by using the Chinese medical approach of looking at the person as a whole while treating each symptom individually.

Modern acupuncturists use other modalities such as moxibustion, cupping, guasha, corrective exercises, as well as lifestyle advice.
