  • Common Injuries And How We Can Help
  •   Low Back Pain:

  • 80% of the population will at some point in their life experience low back pain. Most low back pain is relatively easy to treat - and therefore something that you should not have to tolerate.

A large percentage of low back pain is NOT caused by a 'slipped disc' or a 'pulled muscle'. More often, it is due to stiffness of the low back joints and a loss of stability (weak muscles) around the low back and lower abdominal area.

This type of back pain responds very well to manual therapy by a physiotherapist and to a prescribed supervised rehabilitation programme.

If you have low back pain we can help you!

  •   Neck Pain & Headaches:

  • Neck pain is another very common injury, especially among office-workers and those who work at a computer for any length of time.

Because of the long periods of time spent sitting in front of the computer, the neck, shoulder and back muscles are put under increased strain. These muscles eventually become weak and the strain is transmitted onto the ligaments and joints of the neck and back. This can result in neck and shoulder pain. Headaches may also develop.

With this type of injury, physiotherapy can help, not only by treating the pain but by giving advice and ergonomic assessment to stop the pain returning.

  •   Knee Pain:

  • The most common type of knee pain is called "anterior knee pain" - sometimes referred to as "runner's or jumper's knee". Symptoms will most likely include a generalised ache in the front of one or both of the knees, pain with going up or down stairs, and pain with running or jumping. There may also be pain with sitting with the knees bent to 90 degrees for long periods (i.e. going to the movies).

The key to this injury is getting the correct advice promptly, since it can become chronic very quickly. A combination of manual therapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, and footwear modification is usually required.

We can help you become pain-free.
